Raymond Passage

Raymond Passage (52˚10'00" 128˚16'00" Between Horsfall I and Campbell I, just W of Bella Bella). The feature was named in 1834 by officials at the HBC post of Ft McLoughlin, just S of today’s Bella Bella. Raymond was the capt of a US trading vessel that managed to reach the fort by way of this channel. The name was changed to Hecate Channel, but in 1903 the Geographic Board of Canada decided that, to avoid duplication, it should be changed back to its original form.
