Rescue Bay

Rescue Bay (52˚31'00" 128˚17'00" SE entrance to Jackson Passage, Susan I, Mathieson Channel, N of Bella Bella). Records at BC’s Geographical Names Office suggest that the incident referred to by this name, while admirable, was not exactly front-page news. A pet spaniel that had jumped from a Klemtu-bound fish packer was retrieved here on a dark night by the crew of the W coast hydrographic vessel Parry. Nearby Spaniel Point also takes its name from this event.
