Rhodes Island


Rhodes Island (49˚16'00" 125˚55'00" W side of Cypress Bay, N of Meares I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Henry Harrison Rhodes (1840–1915), originally from Seattle, pre-empted land on Clayoquot Sd S of Cypress Bay in the early 1900s. A prospector, he was quoted in the Victoria Colonist about the excellent potential that existed for gold mining around Clayoquot Sd. Rhodes died at Tofino. Formerly known as False I.
