Robinson Point


Robinson Point (53˚42'00" 130˚07'00" Petrel Channel, E side of McCauley I, opposite Newcombe Hbr on Pitt I). Named after Flight Lt Edward La Page Robinson, DFC, from Vancouver, who was killed in action Oct 2, 1943, aged 33, when his Lockheed Ventura light bomber crashed. He flew more than 110 sorties with RCAF No 145 Squadron, and attacked and sank the German submarine U-658 in 1942 when the vessel was surfacing in the Atlantic NE of St John’s.
