Rungé Island


Rungé Island (53˚26'00" 129˚51'00" S side of Mink Trap Bay, Principe Channel, off W side of Pitt I). Named in 1944 by the hydrographic service after Patricia Rungé, a stewardess aboard the W coast government survey ship William J Stewart in 1942–43. She married W O Williams, a hydrographer who worked on surveys of Fitz Hugh Sd, Prince Rupert and Vancouver harbours, the Str of Georgia and Seymour Narrows from 1942 to 1945 and then resigned from the service.
