Rylatt Rock


Rylatt Rock (52˚27'00" 129˚05'00" W of Prior Passage, off SW Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). Sgt Robert M Rylatt was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He was born in November 1832 at Lincoln, England, and apprenticed as a stonemason, joining the Royal Sappers and Miners and serving in Turkey and Russia during the Crimean War.
