Kootenay School of the Arts


KOOTENAY SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (KSA), located in NELSON, grew out of the closure in 1984 of the David Thompson University Centre (see NOTRE DAME UNIV OF NELSON). It opened in 1992, and in 2002 it had 150 full-time students and 40 part-time instructors. The KSA, which offers a 3-year diploma in art, craft and design, has classes in wood products design, clay, fibre, jewellery, metal, mixed media and writing. It is the only art school of its kind in BC and one of only 3 in Canada.
