Richter, Francis Xavier "Frank"


RICHTER, Francis Xavier "Frank," rancher (b 1837, Austria; d Dec 1910). As a young man he moved to the US, then came north to the valley of the SIMILKAMEEN R in 1864, where he worked for the HBC and pre-empted land near CAWSTON. Eventually his "R" Ranch was one of the largest and most prosperous in the southern Interior (see CATTLE INDUSTRY). His youngest son Frank was a SOCIAL CREDIT MLA for the Similkameen and minister of agriculture and of mines in W.A.C. BENNETT's government....
