Shrum, Gordon Merritt


SHRUM, Gordon Merritt, physicist (b 14 June 1896, Smithville, ON; d 20 June 1985, Vancouver). A veteran of WWI, he graduated with a PhD from the Univ of Toronto in 1923 and came to VANCOUVER to teach at UBC when it opened at its Point Grey campus. He was head of the physics department from 1938 to 1961 and dean of graduate studies from 1956 to 1961.
