Governor General's Literary Awards

GOVERNOR GENERAL'S LITERARY AWARDS are presented annually to writers in 6 categories (both French and English): fiction, non-fiction, poetry, translation, drama and children's literature. They are considered Canada's highest literary honour. Established by the Canadian Authors Assoc in 1937 (for the year 1936), the awards have been administered by the Canada Council since 1959. Winners receive $10,000 and a medal. See chart for list of BC winners.
