ABERDEEN was the site of a SALMON CANNERY located on the north shore of the SKEENA R, 25 km southeast of PRINCE RUPERT. Established by the Windsor Canning Co in 1878, it was the second cannery built on the North Coast and served also as a trading centre for the region's MINING. Aberdeen was rebuilt in 1895 after a serious fire. It burned again in 1902 and was abandoned.
