Adams, Alfred


ADAMS, Alfred, Haida activist (b 1867, Masset; d 1945). One of the founders of the NATIVE BROTHERHOOD OF BC in 1931, he served as president of the organization until his death. He came from a long line of HAIDA chiefs and was a commercial fisher and an ANGLICAN lay minister. As a recruiter of labour for the canneries, he advocated employment and welfare for his people.
