ALEXIS CREEK, pop 162, is on the Chilcotin Hwy (see ROADS AND HWYS) 112 km west of WILLIAMS LAKE. Alex Graham, a pioneering settler, established a ranch here in 1891. Located on a bench overlooking the Chilcotin R and named for a TSILHQOT'IN chief, it has been the focal point of the mid-CHILCOTIN since 1912, when ranchers built a hospital here.
