ANNIEVILLE, now known as Gunderson Slough, is in N DELTA on the south arm of the FRASER R opposite ANNACIS ISLAND. It was the site of the first successful SALMON CANNING facility on the river, opened in 1871, and continued to be a canning centre for many years. Originally a FIRST NATIONS village site, it has been occupied for millennia, and is still home to hundreds of boats.
