ANTLE, John, Anglican missionary (b 1865, Harbour Grace, NF; d 3 Dec 1949, Vancouver). Known as the Wilfred Grenfell of the West Coast, he was born and raised in Newfoundland, where at age 18 he became a teacher on the rugged north coast.
