BC FRUIT GROWERS' ASSOCIATION is a producers' CO-OPERATIVE formed in VANCOUVER in 1889 as an information exchange and lobby group for orchardists. Most of its efforts over the next half-century were spent organizing and expanding an effective fruit marketing system. This led in 1939 to the creation of BC Tree Fruits Ltd, a co-operative selling agency based in KELOWNA that still markets most of the fruit produced in the province.
