BC RAIL LTD was incorporated as the Pacific Great Eastern (PGE) Railway on 27 Feb 1912 during the optimistic railway-building era that preceded WWI. The new line was intended to run from VANCOUVER north to PRINCE GEORGE; there it would connect with the GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY, then being completed to the Pacific Ocean at PRINCE RUPERT.
