BAKER, Francis Russell, aviation pioneer (b 31 Jan 1910, Winnipeg, MB; d 15 Nov 1958, Vancouver). He quit school after grade 8 and learned to fly while still a teenager, though he did not become a full-time pilot until the mid-1930s after he moved to BC. In 1938 he joined Canadian Airways, based at PRINCE GEORGE, flying people and supplies to Interior communities and MINING camps.
