BANK OF BC was created in 1862 by a group of financiers in London, England. With headquarters in VICTORIA, the bank opened branches throughout BC and in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Tacoma. In 1886 the bank moved into a new, 3-storey brick building at the corner of Government and Fort Streets in Victoria. Considered the finest bank building in BC, it is now a heritage site.
