BERTON, Pierre, writer (b 12 July 1920, Whitehorse, YT; d 30 Nov 2004, Toronto). A widely read popularizer of Canadian history, as well as a journalist and media personality, he was raised in Dawson City, YT, and spent his teen years living in VICTORIA.
