BIG BAY, once known as Asman Bay and Yaculta Landing, is a maritime community on the northwest side of STUART ISLAND near the mouth of BUTE INLET, 45 km north of CAMPBELL RIVER. The first reported settler in the area was Anderson Secord in 1907. A school opened in 1928. The bay is home to fishers and loggers, and supports a pub, store, marina and sport fishing resort.
