BLACK CREEK, pop 3,258, 28 km south of CAMPBELL RIVER on the Island Hwy (see ROADS AND HWYS), is a farming and LOGGING community and a service centre for the region. A number of MENNONITES settled here in the 1930s. A farmers' market operates in summer and nearby Miracle Beach Provincial Park attracts tourists.
