BUNTING is a SPARROW-like bird, of which 2 species breed regularly in BC. The lazuli bunting (Passerina amoena) is found in open habitats in the southern Interior and more rarely in the Lower Mainland. It is related to cardinals and GROSBEAKS. The male has a metallic sky-blue head and back and orange breast; the female is a drab brown colour.
