Campbell, Thomas


CAMPBELL, Thomas, lawyer, property developer, politician (b 5 Oct 1927, Vancouver; died there 27 Jan 2012 ). He was one of VANCOUVER's most controversial mayors. Raised on the city's east side, he became a lawyer and also owned several apartment buildings in the city. He was elected to the first of 3 terms in 1967 and became known as a pro-development mayor ("Tom Terrific"), supporting the construction of a hotel at the entrance to STANLEY PARK and a freeway through CHINATOWN, both initiatives...
