CAUX, Jean "Cataline," packer (b 1832, Oleron, France; d Oct 1922, Hazelton). He arrived in the Fraser Canyon with a pack train from Oregon in 1858, and for the next 54 years he ran supply trains into the MINING camps of the Interior, first from ASHCROFT, then QUESNEL and finally from HAZELTON.
