CHIWID, TSILHQOT'IN drifter (b June 1903, Redstone; d 1986, Stone Reserve). She was a mixed-blood woman, baptized Lily Skinner but better known by her aboriginal name, which means "chickadee." When she was in her twenties her husband beat her severely. She left him and lived most of the rest of her life outdoors, summer and winter, wandering the CHILCOTIN, surviving by fishing and by trapping SQUIRRELS.
