Chunlac

CHUNLAC is an ancient village site of the DAKELH (Carrier) people at the confluence of the STUART and NECHAKO rivers 55 km west of PRINCE GEORGE. Evidence of occupation dates back 2,000 years. The site was apparently abandoned in the 1600s after a war with the neighbouring TSILHQOT'IN. See also ARCHAEOLOGY.
