CLARKE, John, mountaineer (b 25 Feb 1945, Dublin, Ireland; d 23 Jan 2003, Vancouver). He moved with his parents to VANCOUVER when he was 13 and in the mid-1960s began exploring the remote regions of the COAST MTS, making forays into the wilderness for weeks at a time and often alone.
