CLOVER VALLEY, 20 km southeast of NEW WESTMINSTER, was one of SURREY's earliest settlements. The three Shannon brothers moved here in 1874–75 and it became the site of Surrey's town hall in 1883. The community drifted 2 km away to the west, however, to the NEW WESTMINSTER SOUTHERN RWY line and became known as CLOVERDALE.
