COLLISHAW, Raymond, WWI air ace (b 22 Nov 1893, Nanaimo; d 29 Sept 1976, W Vancouver). He grew up in NANAIMO and as a teenager joined the Fishery Protective Service, working out of NEW WESTMINSTER as a mate on a fisheries patrol boat. After being rejected 3 times for the air service, he paid for his own flying lessons, earned his wings and was accepted as a Royal Naval Air Service pilot.
