CRANMER, Douglas, artist (b 18 Jan 1927, Alert Bay; d there 6 Nov 2006). A member of the 'Namgis (KWAKWAKA'WAKW) First Nation, Cranmer was the son of Dan Cranmer, who hosted a POTLATCH at VILLAGE ISLAND on Christmas Day 1921 that resulted in jail terms for 26 FIRST NATIONS people and the confiscation of ceremonial regalia.
