CRESCENT BEACH is a small seaside community in SURREY, south of VANCOUVER overlooking BOUNDARY BAY. Archaeological evidence suggests habitation dating back several thousand years (see also ARCHAEOLOGY). It was originally called Blackie's Spit after an early settler. At one time a popular summer cottage resort area, it later became a suburb of Vancouver. OYSTER farmers were active until pollution put them out of business in 1963.
