Croydon Station

CROYDON STATION, west of TÊTE JAUNE CACHE on the CNR and upper FRASER R, was the site of a SAWMILL established by Etter & McDougall Lumber Co at the end of WWI. It employed 80 people in 1920 but was moved to SHERE the next year; by 1928 the population had dropped to 15. An ANGLICAN CHURCH, St John in the Wilderness, was built here with contributions from the town of Croydon in England, after which Croydon Station was named. The site was later deserted.
