Cumyow, Won Alexander


CUMYOW, Won Alexander, interpreter (b 24 Mar 1861, Port Douglas; d 6 Oct 1955, Vancouver). He was the first CHINESE born in Canada. After attending high school in NEW WESTMINSTER, he studied law and became a court interpreter and labour contractor. He was an interpreter in the VANCOUVER police court from 1904 to 1936.
