CUNNINGHAM, George Torrance, druggist (b 1889, ND; d 7 Mar 1965, Palm Springs, CA). He grew up in NEW WESTMINSTER and went to work as an apprentice druggist at WOODWARD'S when he was 15 years old. Later he studied pharmacy in Ontario and the US, then returned to VANCOUVER to open his first Cunningham Drug Store in the city's West End in 1911. By WWII the chain had grown to 35 stores.
