D'Arcy Island

D'ARCY ISLAND  () , 82 ha, is one of many small GULF ISLANDS just north of the San Juan archipelago off the SAANICH PENINSULA. In 1891 it became the site of a lazaretto, or leprosarium. The original inhabitants were CHINESE immigrants who had contracted leprosy in China.
