DENISON, Francis Napier, meteorologist (b 19 Apr 1866, Toronto; d 24 June 1946, Victoria). He worked as a weather observer and electrical engineer in Toronto before being transferred to VICTORIA in 1898. He was widely respected for his research on weather cycles and studies of seismic disturbances. He helped to design Victoria's Gonzales Observatory and served as its director from 1914 to 1936.
