EGOFF, Sheila A., librarian, writer (b 20 Jan 1918, Auburn, ME; d 22 May 2005, Vancouver). Born in Maine but raised and educated in Galt (now Cambridge), ON, she graduated from the Univ of Toronto and worked as a children's librarian in Galt (1939–42) and Toronto (1942–57). In 1962 she came west to join the new library school at UBC, where she taught until her retirement in 1983, specializing in writing and librarianship for young people.
