El Niño


EL NIÑO (pronounced "El NEEN-yo") is a variation in the usual climate system over a large part of the globe. Occurring about every 5 years, El Niño originates on the equator in the Pacific Ocean. Its effects are particularly strong in BC, where the CLIMATE is influenced by Pacific ocean currents.
