ENDAKO is a small community on the Yellowhead Hwy (see ROADS AND HWYS) about 170 km west of PRINCE GEORGE. Once the GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY was finished in 1914, the town became a divisional point, and the railway has always been a major employer, along with the FOREST INDUSTRY. In 1965 a huge open-pit MOLYBDENUM mine opened 8 km south of town. It is the largest producer of molybdenum in Canada and the second largest in the world, employing 220 people.
