EVANS, Hubert, writer (b 9 May 1892, Vankleek Hill, ON; d 17 June 1986, Sechelt). Before completing high school he dropped out to begin a career as a NEWSPAPER reporter, which brought him to BC. During WWI he served in the trenches of France and was wounded at Ypres. After returning to BC, he worked as a fisheries officer.
