FARDON, George, photographer (b. 1807, Birmingham, England; d. 20 Aug 1886, Victoria). After immigrating to New York he went to California in 1849 during the gold rush, then moved north to VICTORIA in about 1858. By 1861 he was in business as one of the first professional photographers in the colony, specializing in portraits and also making some of the first images of BC aboriginal people.
