Farris, John Wallace Debeque


FARRIS, John Wallace deBeque, lawyer, politician (b 3 Dec 1878, White's Cove, NB; d 25 Feb 1970, Vancouver). After attending university in Nova Scotia and Pennsylvania he arrived in VANCOUVER in 1903 to become the city's first Crown prosecutor. He became a power in the local LIBERAL PARTY and in 1916 was elected MLA for Vancouver. He served as attorney general and labour minister in Harlan BREWSTER's cabinet.
