FEDERATION OF BC NATURALISTS was established in 1963 under the name BC Nature Council, a collection of 7 nature clubs. In 1969 the group received federation status and began to evolve into an umbrella organization concerned with nature conservation and education. The federation is primarily concerned with BC environmental issues; national and international issues are left to the larger Canadian Nature Federation, with which the provincial federation is affiliated.
