FILIPINOS began immigrating to BC in the 1880s as crew members aboard the sailing vessels that visited VANCOUVER. Some of these early immigrants found work at the HASTINGS MILL in BURRARD INLET. Filipino immigration did not begin in significant numbers, however, until 1958, when a small group of migrants arrived in Vancouver.
