FISHER (Martes pennanti), a member of the WEASEL (Mustelids) family of mammals, is a medium-sized carnivore that may reach 1 m in length and weigh between 2 and 4 kg. Males are about 20% larger than females. Fishers are larger than martens and are in the same genus. The fisher has rich, dark brown to black fur, often with white tips on some of the hairs, and a small white throat patch.
