FOREST RENEWAL BC was a provincial CROWN CORP created in Apr 1994 to retrain and employ displaced forest workers in forest rehabilitation, enhancement and value-added manufacturing jobs. It was funded by a special stumpage levy on Crown timber. In its first 5 years the corporation invested about $2 billion in retraining forest workers, in secondary manufacturing and in forest enhancement.
