FORT CHILCOTIN was a FUR TRADE post established by the HBC at the confluence of the Chilko and CHILCOTIN rivers in 1829. It relied on trade from the surrounding TSILHQOT'IN people, who were not enthusiastic participants in the fur trade. The fort operated intermittently until 1844.
