FORT FRASER, pop 308, is a town at the east end of Fraser Lk on the Yellowhead Hwy (see ROADS AND HWYS) about 140 km west of PRINCE GEORGE, in the territory of the DAKELH (Carrier). It was the site of a trading post established by Simon FRASER for the NORTH WEST CO in 1806. After 1821 the fort was run by the HBC.
