FRANCKS, Donald, actor (b 28 Feb 1932, Burnaby). A versatile entertainer, he began his career in the 1950s doing stand-up comedy in nightclubs, and progressed to star turns in Broadway musicals and roles in a host of feature films and television series. In the 1960s he abandoned show business to live on a reserve in Saskatchewan, where he was made an honorary Cree and given the name Iron Buffalo.
